Latest Windows 11 Update Causes Blue Screen of Death? Microsoft explains

For the past few days, holders of motherboards MSI seem stunned by an amazing blue screen issue on Windows 11.

As a reminder, this is not the first time this year that a blue screen of death (BSOD) has hit customers of the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system.

Windows 11: owners of MSI motherboards faced with a blue screen problem

On August 22, the Redmond firm deployed a new update for Windows 11 users. Called KB5029351, this update was supposed to deliver various fixes for the operating system. Unfortunately, not everything seems to have gone as planned. The American company has indeed confirmed that a certain number of customers, all owners of an MSI motherboard, were confronted with an unfortunate blue screen problem. Here is what she said:

Microsoft has received reports of an issue where users receive an “UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR” error message on a blue screen after installing updates released August 22, 2023 (KB5029351) and then restarting their device “.

Journalist Tom Warren of The Verge has confirmed encountering this issue on a Windows 11 PC running an Intel Core-i9-13900KS on an MSI MPG Z690 Carbon WIFI motherboard. This therefore joins the many complaints made by users over the past few hours, who all had an Intel processor and an MSI motherboard.

While waiting for a solution, uninstall the KB5029351 update from your computer

Fortunately, if you ever check all the wrong boxes and are therefore faced with this situation, you still have the choice of uninstalling the update from your PC to continue using it normally. Microsoft has also confirmed that it is currently investigating to determine the origin of the problem, and that it will share its progress with its customers as soon as possible. Finally, it seems that the firm has since removed the KB5029351 update from the devices affected by this new blue screen of death.

If nothing is yet certain for the moment, the problem could nevertheless be linked to recent BIOS updates from MSI, in view of the arrival of processors from 14e generation Intel Raptor Lake. Now let’s hope that Microsoft will not delay before determining the exact cause…
