Laurent Luyat: after his hasty departure from the Tour de France, he gives news of his health

Forced to leave the animation of the show Vélo Club a few days before the end of the Tour de France 2022, Laurent Luyat gave his news on his Twitter account this Sunday, July 24.

Laurent Luyat comes out of the silence. Three days before the end of the Tour de France 2022, which saw Dane Jonas Vingegaard triumph for the first time, the sports journalist had to give up the presentation of Bike Club, the France 2 program which looks back on the best moments of the day’s race. He had indeed announced to the viewers that they had to be absent for health reasons. “The friends, for health reasons (not serious) I will not be able to finish the Tour. I am sorry. It’s never happened to me, it’s funny. Thank you for all the good times spent together. See you in Munich for the European Championships”, had written the 54-year-old presenter on his Twitter account.

And this Sunday, July 24, the day of the last stage of the Grande Boucle, Laurent Luyat came out of silence and gave his news on the social network, while thanking those who had sent him messages of support: “Thank you for this Tour that we experienced together. For all your very touching messages. Sorry for this unfinished ending that I couldn’t avoid. It was a pleasure to meet you at the arrivals of stages. It’ll get better soon”. And as he announced in his first message, the journalist should therefore be back to host the 2022 European Championships, organized in Munich on August 11..

Laurent Luyat had shoulder surgery last March

This is not the first time that Laurent Luyat has had to face minor health problems in 2022. Last March, he revealed on his Instagram account that he had had surgery. “The first operation of my life was this morning. On the shoulder!!“, he had written in the caption of a photo where he appeared on a hospital bed with arm in a sling. “Everything went well. Now, convalescence and rehabilitation well accompanied by my doctors and my naturopath to find you in great shape at Roland Garros”he added, revealing that he had to be absent from the television sets for a few weeks.
