On March 7, the LCI channel and the magazine “Elle” will join forces in a special program which will receive the candidates for the presidential election. Véronique Philipponnat, director of “Elle”, explains at the microphone of Europe 1 what this political program will consist of, which brings together the weekly and the news channel.

It is a special evening that is preparing for its LCI antenna on March 7, the eve of International Women’s Rights Day. The news channel joins forces with the magazine She for a program broadcast in prime time, and hosted by Ruth Elkrief and Ava Djamshidi, a senior reporter at the magazine She. On the set, the candidates for the presidential election will present their program to a panel of eight readers of the women’s weekly. Véronique Philipponnat, director of “Elle”, explains at the microphone of Europe 1 why her magazine wanted to join the channel for this program.

Domestic violence, MeToo, feminicides, parity, equal pay

“It seemed important to us, to the magazine She, to hear the candidates on all questions concerning women. First of all, it’s a tradition in our magazine during the elections, but also because since 2017 a lot of questions have emerged in society: domestic violence, MeToo, feminicides, parity, equal pay…”, recalls Véronique Philipponnat. “So it is on all these questions that we wanted to question the candidates. And we found that associating ourselves with a television channel, live, was very strong and impactful.”

Diversity, safety, gender parity, health, environment: so many themes that the eight French women selected for the show will be able to address. “There will be a panel of eight readers selected following this survey that we will do online. This panel will be able to ask the candidates directly the questions that concern them”, specifies Véronique Philipponnat. This survey and this call for applications will arrive next February on the magazine’s social networks and the Elle.fr website.
