PARIS (Reuters) – French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced on Saturday that he will travel to Ukraine on February 7 and 8 with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock.

“Today I assured Dmytro Kuleba of our full support and solidarity with Ukraine. Our mobilization continues, particularly in the Normandy format, for the de-escalation of tensions,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I will be going to Ukraine on February 7 and 8 with Annalena Baerbock.”

Emmanuel Macron spoke on Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he urged to “respect the sovereignty of states” by referring to the troops massed by Russia on the Ukrainian border.

He then spoke with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, to whom he reaffirmed France’s solidarity.
