Leak Reveals High-Performance Intel Core i5-12500H and i7-12700H


If we have already been able to test some Intel Alder Lake desktop processors, the mobile versions for laptops have not yet arrived. These should reveal their full potential linked to a new hybrid architecture composed of high-performance cores (P), active in heavy tasks and low consumption, or efficient (E), used mainly in office automation. At the end of the day, we should therefore have better performance than the previous generation, but also better energy management and therefore extended PC autonomy.

Alder Lake soars

Before getting our hands on equipped computers, we can here analyze a leak relegated by a user of the Chinese network Weibo, which reveals graphs comparing Intel Core i5-12500H and i7-12700H to an older i9-11980HK and a Ryzen 7 5800H.
A few synthetic benchmarks were employed, and the one we’re most interested in here is Cinebench R23, which we use ourselves for our tests. With 17,635 points in multicore, the Core i7-12700H is far ahead of the others and displays nearly 35% higher performance compared to the Ryzen 7 5800H, its current equivalent from AMD. In single-core use, the difference is less, but still significant with a score almost 25% higher.

A combative Core i5

Another interesting element, the “small” Core i5-12500H is more efficient than this Ryzen 7, but also than the Core i9-11980HK, a very high-end processor from the previous generation. If synthetic benchmarks are not always representative of application use, these results are very encouraging for Intel. Also, let’s not forget that the AMD Ryzen 7 6800H processor is coming very soon and will be the true next-gen competitor to the Core i7-12700H.

So we’ll soon know if the Ryzen 6000s and their Zen 3+ architecture will match the performance gains of Intel processors. The match promises to be close in any case, and we will obviously be present to arbitrate all this.
