Lebenshilfe initiative – 400 jobs in Upper Austria with added value


“At first I didn’t always know how to deal with the employees. But it quickly became clear that my fears were unfounded, ”says Schachermayer department head Silke Augl. 14 employees in the Linz wholesale company are provided by Lebenshilfe Oberösterreich as part of the integrative employment. They fill packages with assembly material.

Integrative employment is the “magic word” that is also lived at Schachermayer: parts that are needed for the assembly of kitchens or for a window repair kit are made into packages by 14 employees from a Linz social welfare workshop in the wholesaler’s prepackaging area laced. “Your whole manner and your work are a great asset to our company,” enthuses department head Silke Augl.

Around 400 people with intellectual disabilities are currently employed by cooperation partners of Lebenshilfe in Upper Austria. Some only work for a company half a day a week, while others work full-time. Schachermayer is in prominent company: Fronius, Ikea, Möbelix, Rewe, Spar and Bellaflora also focus on integrative employment.
