“Leg injury” takes time

Borussia Dortmund has to do without Giovanni Reyna for the time being. The US national player was absent from the public training session of the Bundesliga soccer club in front of 1,500 spectators. The 20-year-old suffered a leg injury that BVB did not specify in mid-June at the CONCACAF Nations League final. Therefore, the attacking midfielder, who has often struggled with health problems recently, is likely to miss a large part of the pre-season. A return to team training is currently not in sight.
Reyna will not be in the squad in the upcoming friendlies at Rot-Weiss Oberhausen on Wednesday (6 p.m.) and at Rot-Weiss Erfurt on Saturday (4.30 p.m.). Nevertheless, as an important club representative, he is part of the Dortmund travel entourage, which is setting off on an eleven-day PR trip to his home country the USA next Monday. There, the runner-up will meet San Diego Loyal as well as top Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea.
