Legislative 2022: Marion Maréchal will not be a candidate with Reconquest

No new mandate in Vaucluse for Marion Maréchal. The former MP for Carpentras will not run as a legislative candidate under the Reconquest label because of her pregnancy, according to a confidence made this Monday, May 9 by Bertrand de la Chesnais, party coordinator in Vaucluse.

Despite an obvious status as a headliner within the Reconquête party, Marion Maréchal will not be a candidate in the legislative elections on June 12 and 19, in order to better prepare for her delivery scheduled for the coming weeks.

“Many hoped that she would come, unfortunately with her pregnancy she was still hesitating and today, that’s it, her decision is made. We can understand it because indeed a pregnancy is not just anything in a woman’s life. And she is in Paris, she prepared for this birth there, “said Bertrand de la Chesnais on France Bleu Vaucluse.

Despite this strong decision, the vice-president of the party was present at the training day organized by Reconquest this Saturday, May 7 in the Wagram room in Paris. Marion Maréchal strongly encouraged the 550 people invested by the party for the legislative elections. “We have all the assets to achieve this: skills, desire, courage, youth, vision. Our responsibility is immense! The future starts with you now, thank you and good luck to all for these elections!”

Three of the five known candidates in Vaucluse

Bertrand de la Chesnais has formalized the names of three of the five candidates invested by his political movement in the legislative elections in Vaucluse. He cited the names of Ophelie Nau in the first constituency (Avignon), Christian Montagard in the third constituency (Carpentras-Sud) and Catherine Chavrier in the fifth constituency (Carpentras-Nord, Pertuis, Sault).

The names of the last two investitures under the Reconquest banner will be announced on Tuesday at a press conference aimed at presenting the party’s candidates for the legislative elections. To explain this delay, the coordinator of the movement in the Vaucluse evoked negotiations which last with the RN.

For her part, Marion Maréchal will accompany Nicolas Bay this Tuesday, May 10 at 8 p.m. in Abbeville (Somme) to hold a public meeting there.
