Within Nupes, dissent is not yet felt. Several constituencies are problematic, starting with the one where the militant journalist Taha Bouhafs was running, before withdrawing. The 15th district of Paris is also a source of tension between rebellious France and the Socialist Party.

In the New Popular, Ecological and Social Union, the common list gathered around Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the Insoumis, a first controversial candidacy has just exploded in flight. That of Taha Bouhafs, invested by rebellious France in the district of Vénissieux, in the Rhône. He has just thrown in the towel after being the victim of attacks, slander and even death threats. Taha Bouhafs is the perfect illustration of the difficulties of uniting these very different parties on the left.

Mélenchon supports him

The pedigree of Taha Bouhafs crystallized criticism from part of the left. The controversial militant journalist and close to Islamist identity movements such as the Collective against Islamophobia in France (CCIF) or BarakaCity, was sentenced for having called police officer Linda Kebbab “a service Arab” or insulting journalists from Charlie Hebdo of “lousy”.

Fabien Roussel, the national secretary of the PCF, asked rebellious France on Monday to review its investiture. Ultimately, Taha Bouhafs threw in the towel last night in a press release. A text where he denounces the attacks he has received. Jean-Luc Mélenchon gave him his support and declared this morning “that he blames himself for not having been able to comfort him as much as necessary”.

The PS negotiates for Lamia El Aaraje

Another case that divides the left, the 15th constituency of Paris which was attributed to the Insoumise Danielle Simonnet, while the former socialist deputy Lamia El Aaraje is a candidate there. The PS makes it a symbol of the injustice of this agreement and is still trying to negotiate with rebellious France. But as a manager confides, it is in the hands of Mélenchon. Tuesday evening, in the national office, the Socialists will know the final list of their 70 candidates. Not sure that everyone is satisfied, which could cause new dissidence.
