Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga: a fun and family video game parody

It’s a bit Star Wars the total. With this new Lego game, the British from TT Games deliver a tribute work that aims to create a link between generations. And it works.

It’s an ode to the Star Wars saga or at least the first three and main trilogies. With Lego Star Wars – The Skywalker Saga (PS5/PS4, Xbox Series/ Xbox One, PC, Switch), the TT Games studio invites us to relive key scenes from the nine films! We will therefore cross paths with young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, Rey on Jakku, master Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi but also Darth Vader, Darth Maul or even the Emperor himself.

The adventure features over 300 playable characters and some 23 planets to explore! A true tribute to the series initiated in 1977 by George Lucas. All with Lego sauce. Understand that, if the game takes rather faithfully a whole series of cult moments, the tone remains humorous and kindly wacky. A way to reach out to the youngest without offering an adventure that is too serious and, ultimately, a bit off-putting for this young audience. Repeated gags work well on kids and are also a good way to gently enter this extremely dense Star Wars universe.

As always in Lego video games, here we will spend quite a bit of time chasing more or less hidden bricks in more open areas than those of the majority of Lego adventures (even if we remember notable exceptions such as the excellent Lego City Undercover). If you count all the side missions (not always exciting), there are hundreds of tasks to accomplish here. Suffice to say that the life of the game, if you want to collect all the characters, is enormous. In a straight line, about twenty hours is enough to go around the nine revisited feature films.

A handover between generations

However TT Games remains on its achievements. Here you have to solve mini-puzzles with different characters (you can have several heroes/heroines in your team and you then go from one to another), fight against the forces of the Empire, men sands, etc. to finally face a few bosses who are all very affordable. This Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga affirms its status as a family adventure by also offering, like all the latest titles in the series, two players to cross these very many levels together.

It is a handover between generations. Impossible for the older ones not to have the thrill when the first notes of the melodies of John Williams are heard. Because yes, and this is one of the strengths of the game, the music is that of the saga! The youngest will discover a crazy universe, funny situations (all the voices and all the texts are in French) and many options to adjust the game to their age and level.

This Lego Star Wars the Skywalker Saga is a golden opportunity to revise its classics between father/mother and son/daughter. Impossible after that not to want to (re)watch the famous SF saga… all of this necessarily with the family.

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, Warner Bros Games, on Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC.
