Authorities and mayors were constantly accused of being too lax in the fight against illegal recreational homes. The satisfaction of Kitzbühel’s city boss Klaus Winkler with regard to a current cause is all the greater. He had specially hired a lawyer for controls, this year there were already 300.
“If you carry out the controls carefully and document them meticulously, then you will prevail in court. In the case at hand, the facts were crystal clear on the table, ”says Winkler.
All suspected cases will continue to be checked consistently. The result: “Within one year, our lawyer in the building department carried out around 300 checks. 30 more controls are planned for the next week alone. “
A third with immediate all-clear
Experience has shown that a third of the cases can be closed relatively quickly after reports (one must not forget that there are also permitted leisure residences). The rest of the cases are often followed by lengthy procedures and appeals.
Winkler does not accept the accusation of criminalization of those affected, including spying: “It’s about the locals and the lawful use of our living space.”
