Les 12 Coups de midi: Jean-Luc Reichmann tells the crazy story of the creation of the game

Twelve years already! To celebrate this anniversary, Jean-Luc Reichmann brings together 56 great champions of the game. Watch Les 12 Coups de midi: Le Combat des Maîtres on TF1 from Sunday June 26 at 11:40 a.m.

Why was it important to bring together the greatest Midday Masters for these 12 years of 12 noon shots?

Jean-Luc Reichmann:All occasions are good for getting together, sharing emotions, laughing… We have experienced so many strong things with the candidates, the viewers, the personalities, that we had to make it an event.

How was the game born?

It was created in five weeks! It seems completely crazy. We had noticed that there was a slight drop in the audiences ofWATCH YOUR STEP (game broadcast on TF1 from 2001 to 2010, editor’s note). We then worked around the clock to put The 12 Blows on the air, just during the summer to test it. At the start of the school year, we made some adjustments, and since then, the program has never ceased to be a leader in its segment.

What is your best memory of these twelve years at the head of the 12 noon shots?

It’s that of the image that I have left of the shows that I don’t know yet but that I’m going to shoot… I like to let myself be surprised every day. The images that remain to me of this family that we have been able to build over these years are stronger than anything.

And your worst memory?

The case Quesada (ex-Maître de midi sentenced for corruption of minors, possession of child pornography images, among others, editor’s note).

Are you working on creating a new game for TF1 lunchtime?

The 12 noon shots, that’s more than a billion viewers a year! Nothing is ever certain, but for twelve years we have all worked hard on a daily basis. All cursors are green. There is no reason to work on another program for lunch. TF1 trusts me, gives me total freedom and I can’t thank them enough. As long as I have the joy, the desire to animate it and as long as I feel useful, why would I stop?

You have just returned from a road trip in the United States with your wife, Nathalie. How would you describe this experience?

We traveled 5,000 kilometers on a motorcycle in the United States because we wanted to get away from it all together, to go on an adventure, to take an unexpected parenthesis of dreamy complicity, after these last few years, which have been so delicate for everyone. It’s a great experience! Take the time, let yourself be surprised by life and landscapes, be in direct contact with nature and the elements!

What are your future projects with TF1?

The summer will be very, very studious for me. I start with the 12 years of the 12 Shots then The Battle of the Masters. I will continue with the preparation during the summer of the tenth season ofLeo Mattei, series that we created with Nathalie and who became the director. I will also promote a new show that I will present in prime time on TF1, Game of Talents. Summer will be hot, summer will be hot, in T-shirts, in swimsuits!

Estelle, the very first winner of the 12 Shots

On June 28, 2010, Jean-Luc Reichmann launched The 12 noon shots on TF1. That day is Is she who won the victory. Twelve years later, she returns to confront the other great champions. “The production had already contacted me two years ago for the tenth anniversary of the show. I had then made a small appearance in the public but without really participating in the game. When the production called me back for these twelve years, I immediately accepted. It’s so cool to think that we are part of the history of such a popular program”, confides to us the one who at the time of her victory had won… one hundred euros!
