Lewandowski with a record goal
FC Bayern is back with a peat festival

The record holder quickly puts himself back on the road to success: After the bad cup clap against Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Bayern quickly set clear conditions against Union Berlin, but the game is still wild. There is even a new goal record.

With merciless callousness, FC Bayern took the step to their usual strength after the shame of Gladbach and brought the fortress of the Iron of Union Berlin to collapse. In what was probably the last game for the time being without quarantine head coach Julian Nagelsmann on the line, the Munich team defeated Köpenicker, who had previously been unbeaten in 21 games at home, with 5: 2 (3: 1).

With a standard double, world footballer Robert Lewandowski (15th / penalty, 23rd) put the guests in the lead on Saturday in a thrilling and never boring top game. Leroy Sané (35th), Kingsley Coman (61st) and Thomas Müller (79th) scored the other Bayern goals, who have now set a Bundesliga record with 38 goals after ten match days. However, the Munich team, again looked after by Dino Toppmöller in the stadium, let the guests get a little bit more: Niko Gießelmann (43rd) scored before the break, Julian Ryerson (65th), who had just been substituted, after a good hour in front of 16,509 spectators.

Three days after Bayern went 0: 5 and lost the cup, the fans were again offered a football spectacle – this time with a successful end for the record champions, who thus defended the league leadership. The fortress of the Berliners, who were only six points worse before the game, was actually ready for the onslaught of Bayern. The song of the iron rang out when the Munich team came onto the square. Both coaches had changed their teams in four positions. A reaction should come from the people of Munich.

Lewandowski stays cool

She came, albeit happily at first. At the very beginning, the Unioners did what coach Urs Fischer had announced: They stressed their opponents. Little space, purely in the duels, that was initially also possible against Bayern, where Dayot Upamecano, who was completely indisposed against Mönchengladbach, was replaced by Niklas Süle in the central defense. Josip Stanisic moved to the right defensive side instead of Benjamin Pavard. In addition, Coman and Corentin Tolisso played for Serge Gnabry and the injured Leon Goretzka in midfield for the first time this season from the start.

Bayern stuck to their line, also looking for the way to success with long-range shots. As in the 13th minute, Sané withdrew from around 16 meters, Unions Paul Jackel threw himself into the trajectory of the ball and got it on the non-worn forearm. Penalty, the Union fans raged. Lewandowski stayed cool – and only scored the second goal a little later. This time with a free kick from 16 meters, he himself had previously been fouled by Robin Knoche. The stressful phase was over, the Bavarians gained momentum and the mood in the kitchen of home office head coach Nagelsmann is likely to have steadily improved. His team now controlled the game. Union didn’t really know what to do.

Munich defense wobbles again

Max Kruse, who with his experience and cleverness could have played a decisive role in such a phase, was not hurt by the Berliners. Andreas Luthe was able to parry a first Sané attempt, a minute later the Union goalkeeper was beaten for the third time. Were the Bavarians the Bavarians again as we know them?

When Gießelmann conceded, there was not much to see from the Munich counter-defense. And shortly before the break, the Munich team was lucky that Sheraldo Becker was offside when he scored. But it became clear that these Bavarians remained vulnerable. Because it went on like this after the break. Becker and Union’s top scorer Taiwo Awoniyi whirled, Neuer had to intervene several times, Bayern’s defense was under pressure. They staggered, but they did not fall.

Because on the other side, individual class met. A short body deception, a deep right-footed shot into the corner, Coman’s effort paid off now for good. Shortly thereafter, Toppmöller took Sané from the field, on Tuesday the important home game in the Champions League against Benfica Lisbon is on the program. On the other hand, Fischer brought Ryerson, among others – and he brought the Unioners back on. But Müller dashed all hopes after the substitute Upamecano had done great preparatory work.
