LFL: a slot becomes available in Div.2, who to take the place of TPAA?

The LFL’s big change continues for the 2023 season of League of Legends. While the first national division will experience a few departures, such as perhaps the Karmine Corp. which is still targeting the Astralis slot in LEC (even if it is less and less possible), and above all Misfits who is leaving the league and looking for a replacement, teams are also jostling to arrive through the back door like last year.

Indeed, on October 20, the organizers announced the withdrawal of Tony Parker Academy (academic team of LDLC OL) in Div.2 and therefore the release of a championship slot that will have to be filled for 2023. A call for applications has been launched to choose a new structure to integrate the French professional scene. A pre-selection of files should make it possible to establish a short list of 3 to 5 candidates who will then be analysed.

BMS and Mandatory should not apply

Suitors have until November 2 to apply. and a pick will end in the middle of next month. In the same way as in the invitation to tender in LFL, once the team is confirmed, the financial offer of the slot will be redistributed as follows: 50% for Tony Parker Adéquat Academy and 50% for the other teams of Div.2.

We already know that mandatory, the ZeratoR team did not want to take part in the LFL adventure, there is little chance that this will be the case for the second division. For his part, Aegis could try to play on two tables but favors the LFL. Finally, often announced in offers for the French league, the BMS team at JoelPostbad has announced that they are not interested.

On the suitor side, we could therefore turnr towards the professional teams of the Nexus Tour such as FC Nantes which has just descended following the Up&Down, or new structures that are not yet on the LoL scene. In any case, since this year, an LFL structure can no longer have an academic team in the second division, which rules out many possibilities. Answer next month…
