Ahead of CES 2022 in Las Vegas, which is due to take place next week, manufacturers are getting their heads around. LG has already unveiled some of the products that will be presented at the event. This is particularly the case with its new PC monitors, its high-end sound bar, its first gaming laptop or its curved Oled screens.

The latest announcement concerns screens. It must be said that LG is one of the main suppliers of Oled tiles for the industry. As such, the firm will take advantage of CES to present several concepts of televisions that are at least original because of their transparency. Four prototypes will be exhibited by the Korean firm: LG OLED Shelf, LG Shopping Managing Showcase, LG Show Windows and LG Smart Window.

The LG OLED Shelf TV is actually a dual screen made up of two 55-inch transparent Oled panels. The idea with this screen is to offer a dual display for films for example with, on the main screen, at the top, the display of a film or a series and, on the lower one, contextual information. like the length of the movie, the cast or the description of a work of art displayed above.

Transparent screens serving as showcases

For its part, the Shopping Managing Showcase screen will serve, as its name suggests, as a showcase. It allows you to show products behind the screen while displaying information – such as price, logo or materials – directly on the transparent Oled panel. It’s the same principle that we will find on the LG Show Window, but in a much larger format with four 55-inch panels for a total screen of 110 inches.

Finally, The Verge reports that the LG Smart Windows screen will be used “Video calls or presentations in the office”.

For now, these four screens are only concepts and will not a priori be marketed by LG. It must be said that they are not designed to be necessarily available under the brand of the Korean manufacturer, but are designed by LG Display. This subsidiary of the firm sells Oled screens to the entire television industry. This is particularly the case with Xiaomi, which launched its first transparent Oled TV over a year ago, the Xiaomi Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition. Equipped with an LG panel, the TV is however only marketed in China.
