Nantes (France), July 11, 2023, 7:30 a.m. CEST – Lhyfe (EURONEXT: LHYFE), a global pioneer in the production of renewable green hydrogen for transport and industrial applications, announces the development of a green hydrogen plant of a capacity of 70 MW located in Perl, in Saarland (Germany). The start of construction is scheduled for 1

half of 2027. The unit plans to inject up to 30 tons of green hydrogen per day into the pipeline of the mosaHYc cross-border hydrogen transport network. The two partners thus make an important contribution to the transformation and sustainability of the Sarre industrial site as well as the entire region (Sarre-Lorraine-Luxembourg).

Specifically, existing pipelines in the region of Völkingen (Germany), Carling (France), Bouzonville (France) and Perl (Germany) will be examined to determine whether they can be used as a hydrogen pipeline. It is also planned to build new pipelines from Bouzonville towards Dillingen. A number of industries that can benefit from the advantages of green hydrogen are located along the mosaHYc pipeline.

“We are pleased that the Land of Saarland and the city of Perl are investing in the rapid development of a hydrogen infrastructure based on renewable energies. For the construction of the plant, we use the most modern electrolysis technologies. with intelligent software, which optimizes the injection of electricity from renewable sources. The project will contribute significantly to the availability of competitive and profitable green hydrogen for industry in Saarland

“, said

Luc Graré, Head of Central & Eastern Europe at Lhyfe.

Hydrogen plays a key role in decarbonizing the transport and mobility sector. To achieve the climate targets, production capacities must be increased throughout Germany. Projects like Perl’s prove that working closely with decision-makers within municipalities can make a significant contribution to climate-neutrality in industry.

The mayor of Perl, Ralf Uhlenbruch, welcomes this cooperation and emphasizes

: ”

Saarland has officially been part of the HyExpert model region for hydrogen since August 2020. The Lhyfe plant project is an important step for the development of the hydrogen economy in the region. This project is a perfect example of the industrial transformation initiated by the European Union to provide green hydrogen to established industries, without emissions and across borders. Furthermore, it lays the foundations for a new sector of economic activity, new jobs and other important investments in this border triangle. The Lhyfe production unit and the mosaHYc gas pipeline are only the beginning of a sustainable and innovative development. In the future, our fellow citizens should also be able to benefit directly from the use of green hydrogen, for example in local public transport and in energy supply.”

The implementation of the project is subject to the granting of operating authorizations and building permits, as well as financial investment decisions.
