Petrol and diesel prices have been at a high level for many months. Lidl’s campaign came at just the right time. Until October 15th, there was a fuel discount of 3 cents per liter in the Lidl Plus app if you filled up at participating Shell gas stations. The campaign is now over, but you can still save at the pump.
How it works? It’s simple: We recommend using a fuel saving app. These programs compare the prices of current gasoline prices in your area at different gas stations and show where it is cheapest.
This is usually the case at small independent gas stations and not at the large chains. This means you can sometimes save even more using a fuel price app than you can through Lidl at Shell, as the prices here are often quite high.
In addition, some programs such as “refuel more” offer you a price history and recommend the right time to drive to the gas pump or advise you that you should wait a while before refueling. This is practical because prices often rise, especially early in the morning and at the end of the day.
