Life hacks: This helps with annoying clothes labels

The clothes label scratches and pinches: If cutting off is not an option, there are a few other tips and tricks to use.

Any sweater, no matter how comfortable, causes stress when the label scratches. Still, many do not want to simply cut it off. Even more annoying edges of the leftover threaten and in the worst case the garment will get holes. Sensitive fabrics such as silk and cashmere are particularly at risk. And don't forget: a washing label also has a function and provides information on whether and how an item of clothing needs to be washed and cared for.

Round off or fray corners

If you scratch labels, it can help to just cut off the corners with cloth scissors. Often it is not the little label that is annoying, but the protruding, prickly ends. Rounded notes can work wonders. Another possibility is to cut off only one to two millimeters from the lower end of the note and to fray it by hand so that there is no longer a sharp edge.

The grip on needle and thread

Another trick to defuse the scratchy clothing label: grab the needle and thread and sew the label onto the inside of the garment without cutting it off. The whole thing also usually works with textile glue.

Remove using a seam ripper

If you can't get used to these suggested solutions or if the label is still annoying, you can use a seam ripper to gently remove the note from your clothing. This way, no sharp and scratchy edges are left behind, as is often the case when cutting with scissors. The washing labels are easy to store, for example in individual transparent sleeves with a corresponding note that shows which label goes with which clothing.
