For a few weeks, this mini-series replaces Domestic scenes. This short program (each episode lasts less than four minutes) takes place in a primary school. The real children are not school children but parents and teachers who behave… like kids. With a whole gallery of exuberant characters. Like kidss is above all a family comedy.

An irreverent tone

It’s actually an adaptation of a Dutch series, Lice Mothera big hit there. But the format was longer, about twenty minutes per episode. So, we still had to work a lot on it, to transform it into a short format, a French specialty and specialty of producer Hervé Bellech, who has been making it for 20 years.

“The background work was done at the writing level,” he explains on Europe 1. “Because there are very few texts that are adapted from the original format. It’s essentially original creation to stick to the exercise of the short program and the sequence. The idea was to keep the ingredients of the recipe which made the success of the series in the Netherlands, that is to say the irreverent tone, the quirky tone. While remaining good-natured. But, that’s what makes the salt of the series”.

Actors unknown to the general public

These small pellets also address underlying social themes such as disability, single parenthood, homosexuality, adoption. The setting is not a studio but a real school, which brings naturalness to the series. As for the actors, all of them already have experience. Some come from the stage with comedians Doully, Kevin Razy and Elodie Poux. But none are well known to the general public. It was a will of the production.

“The desire was to create a troupe,” says Hervé Bellech. “And that everyone is housed in the same boat. The idea was not to go looking for someone too famous who could take too much light”.

The program started on Monday and it got off to an encouraging start. The first hearings fell yesterday. A member of the management of M6 confides that his teams are very happy with the score and that they are also aware that it takes time to install a new short program.

like kids is broadcast every day of the week at 8:30 p.m. on M6.
