If you use an Android smartphone, you can adjust your mobile phone in a few simple steps so that it is much more convenient to use. For example, you can set your phone to lock or unlock itself automatically under certain conditions. We will explain how to do this in the following text and in the video.
Unlocking the phone screen can be annoying in some situations. Especially when you have to unlock the phone several times within a very short time. IOS and Android devices now offer unlocking not only with fingerprint sensors, but also with face recognition. However, the software is not always reliable.
An alternative is Android’s smart lock function, which uses various sensors to identify their surroundings. This means that your mobile phone remains unlocked or it detects when someone else is using your smartphone and locks itself automatically.
Unlock your Android smartphone comfortably: This is how the Smart-Lock function works
To activate Smart Lock, follow these steps – in our example on a Samsung device:
- First set up a secure locking method for your device under “Device security” in the settings.
- Then the menu item “Effect for unlocking” changes to “Secure lock settings”. Tap the point.
- Select “Smart Lock” and enter your PIN to authorize the function on your mobile phone.
- You are now in the Smart Lock menu. Here you have access to the following options:
Trusted devices: You categorize one or more devices as “trustworthy”. If the smartphone is then in the vicinity of these devices, it unlocks automatically using Smart Lock.
Trustworthy places: You choose a location where the phone is always unlocked.
Trusted Voice: Your phone can use voice recognition to determine whether you are using it.
Wear detection: By recognizing certain movement patterns, Smart Lock recognizes whether you are currently carrying your mobile phone with you or not. Your phone will then be automatically unlocked accordingly.
But the Smart-Lock feature can not only be used on Samsung devices. Since it is part of Android, it can be found in the settings of most devices – simply search for “Smart Lock”.
In addition to the smart lock function, Android devices offer many other practical features that are often lost in the abundance of functions. We’ll introduce you to five of them in this article: Android: Great Features You Should Know.
