Loire: a Nigerian sentenced to 3 years in prison for the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl

A Nigerian man was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday by the Roanne Criminal Court (Loire) for the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl in 2021.

The young refugee, who will be registered in the automated judicial file of perpetrators of sexual and violent offenses (Fijais), is also sentenced to a permanent ban from French territory, a judicial source and his lawyer told AFP.

He will have to pay 4,000 euros in damages to the young victim, as well as one euro to each of his parents.

On February 28, during the hearing, eight years in prison, including two suspended sentences, had been requested against this man who arrived in France in 2018, at the age of 16, after the assassination of part of his family in Africa.

On the morning of March 14, 2021, he approached a street in the center of Roanne and invited the girl, who suffers from an intellectual disability, to follow him.

The system put in place by the prosecution after the report of the disappearance of the child by his parents had enabled the judicial police to find them at 1:20 a.m., several kilometers away, in a hotel room in Coteau, a nearby town.

The medical analyzes had made it possible to establish that the victim found partly naked on a bed in a hotel room had not been raped.

However, she claimed to have been forcibly kissed and touched by the young man whose DNA was found on her underwear.
