Loire The Voice: the Roannais Kévin Yven in the running this Saturday evening

The public will discover you in The Voice in a few hours. When did you go on stage for the first time?

“Basically I’m not a singer. I did a lot of diverse and varied jobs before becoming an independent artist. I’ve always sung in secret, but I was a little afraid to confront an audience.

My first scene dates from 2018. I was 27 years old and I took part in a competition at the Théâtre de la Madeleine, in Paris: I had to sing K-pop in Korean! I listen to this musical trend a lot. It was a challenge because I don’t speak Korean at all and I had covered the song Red Flavor of the group Red Velvet. This performance then allowed me to go to a competition in South Korea. It was extraordinary. »

“I dream of representing France at Eurovision”

You also took part in the Roanne Jeunes Talents competition in 2019…

“Yes, I had finished second after singing I Don’t Think About You, by Kelly Clarkson. But with the Covid, I had to take a break from singing competitions. I only did one again last September, La Voie des talents, in Strasbourg, where I took over Here is, by Barbara Pravi. It was thanks to this competition that I was spotted by the casting teams of The Voice”.

Which artists made you want to start singing?

“I grew up with great voices like Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. Now, I’m inspired a lot by artists from the pop scene like Katy Perry or Sam Smith. I’m more pop-rock, mainly in English, but I’m trying to get into French a little more. And in French song, we are lucky to have artists like Clara Luciani, Stromae or Julien Doré. »

In your description, the production of The Voice explains that you are fascinated by Eurovision…

“As a child, with my family, I always watched this musical event in May which fascinated me. I find that incredible. It’s a competition and at the same time it’s a mix of culture and love of music. My big dream as an artist is to one day represent France at Eurovision”.

What convinced you to participate in this eleventh season?

“It’s first of all a personal challenge to prove to myself that I’m capable of it. We confront extremely talented people: it is not easy at all to arrive at The Voice, there are many stages before. Even at blind auditions, they are very experienced people. Participating is also, somewhere, a search for approval from the coaches. »

“I love Léna Maire, she is an extraordinary artist”

Without revealing anything from this Saturday evening’s show (which was recorded), which coach would you like to go with (among Vianney, Amel Bent, Marc Lavoine and Florent Pagny)?

“It’s a question that I asked myself a lot because they all have their own universe. They are very great artists with great careers. Musically, I think I correspond a little more to a somewhat hybrid version between Amel Bent and Florent Pagny. Maybe I’ll be more inclined to choose them if ever I had the chance that they turn around. Afterwards, I also really like Vianney’s creations and the sensitivity of Marc Lavoine. »

Have you seen the performance of Léna Maire, the other Ligerienne who is participating in the show this year (read elsewhere)?

“Yes and I adore her, she is an extraordinary artist. I didn’t know her before the show, we met there. I loved his performance. She has a lot of talent and I think she will go very far. »

The Voice, Saturday March 19, at 9:10 p.m. on TF1.

Léna Maire: next step in April

On March 5, the Ligerian Léna Maire capsized the four coaches of the show with her piano-voice interpretation of Never can say goodbye, of the Jackson 5. But not only the jury (she chose the Vianney team). Indeed, viewers were also amazed by the promising performance of the one who put Saint-Étienne on the front of the stage during this fourth evening of blind auditions. Social networks are packed for the Andrézienne that some even see already in the final. But before that, many steps await it, starting with the battles, already recorded, which will be broadcast in April. This Saturday evening, viewers will know if Kévin Yven will join her in the next event.
