  • “Loki” remains exciting in season 2 and drives the plot forward at a decent pace.
  • In the second episode, Loki and Mobius not only look for Sylvie, they also have to stop General Dox.
  • However, they only partially succeed and the consequences are catastrophic.

The plot of “Loki” has major consequences for the entire MCU, but at the same time the Disney+ series seems to be a little different from the rest of the productions. This is certainly because the TVA, the most important location in “Loki”, is located away from space and time and any consequences for the universe – or universes – are not directly visible.

In the finale of the first “Loki” season, Sylvie killed Jenen Der Bleibt, causing massive timeline chaos that could lead to a multiversal Kang war. But season 2 of “Loki” gives us another shocking event in episode 2, the terrible consequences of which are not shown.

The end of billions

In the first episode of “Loki” Season 2, General Dox sets off with X-5 and other TVA hunters to find Sylvie – at least supposedly. As X-5, who now wants to be called Brad Wolfe, reveals after an intensive interrogation in Episode 2, Dox wants to bring order to the resulting timeline mess.

Together with Mobius, B-15 and Sylvie, Loki must stop Dox and her hunters before they can “trimm” – i.e. destroy – all the new timelines. Ultimately, however, they only manage to save 70 percent of the timelines and 30 percent are removed.

That doesn’t sound like much at first and we only see this destruction on the timeline monitor, but you have to remember that billions of variants, i.e. people, died as a result of this timeline erasure. The Marvel Universe we know remains unaffected by this, but General Dox still has more blood on her hands than Thanos in “Avengers: Endgame”.

We will only find out in the coming episodes of “Loki” on Disney+ whether Loki, Mobius and Co. will succeed in saving the remaining timelines and the TVA itself. The series will not be continued after season 2, but the Kang storyline will not be completed yet. “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” has already been confirmed for 2026…
