LoL: 5 stats to discover on the EUM… Spain not at the top!

The competitive calendar in League of Legends is always full. Between the LFL, the Div 2, the LEC, the MSI and the Worlds… the fans don’t really have time to be bored. We could also mention the Asian leagues (LPL and LCK) which always offer entertainment. With this extremely complete offer, a European competition sometimes has trouble finding a place… European Masters (EUM).

When we factor into the equation the absence of the Karmine Corp, triple reigning European champion, we can legitimately anticipate sex statistics. But to try to revive a little hype, we decided to share with you 5 statistics, not necessarily known, about the tournament.

Record participation: a ranking that escapes the LFL!

France has garnered a lot of victories at the EUM, between the titles of Karmine Corp and those of Misfits Premier and LDLC OL. But if we look at the number of participations, it is a Polish team that tumbles at the top of the ranking: AGO Roguand with 8 entries (if we count the current edition). To arrive at this amount, you must add the 6 participations as Rogue AGO to the 2 campaigns under the name of Rogue Esports Club.

The highest ranked LFL teams are LDLC OL and Misfits Premier, with 6 appearances. For the Rabbits, however, the counter risks remaining blocked forever.

Winning by starting Play-In: it’s possible!

  • Spring 2019: Misfits Premier victory
  • Summer 2019: BIG victory
  • Spring 2022: victory for Karmine Corp

Theoretically, you have a better chance of winning the competition when you start your campaign as soon as Main Event. An accident in Play-In happened quickly and it is also necessary to take into account the state of fatigue and the strategies revealed along the way. However, on 3 occasions teams who started their tournament very early managed to win! Among them are two teams of LFL.

Double EUM – LEC: not so rare

  • Targamas (Karmine Corp – G2)
  • Rekkles (Karmine Corp – Fnatic)
  • YellowStar (LDLC OL – Fnatic)
  • Carzzy (BIG-MAD Lions)
  • Expect (Origen – G2)
  • Froggen (Origen – Alliance)
League of Legends

If we consider that the EUM serve as a springboard to integrate the great European scene, it is easy to imagine that several players, benefiting from a brilliant rise, win at both levels. Since the creation of the EUM in 2018, there are 6 players who have achieved the double. But what is more surprising is that the majority achieved this performance starting from the top and coming down: Rekkles, YellowStar, Expect and Froggen. Alone Targamas and Carzzy did things in order.

Fnatic Rising, the cursed team

The Fnatic Academic Team is cursed in EUM. With 6 participations (5 as Fnatic Rising, 1 as Fnatic TQ), it is the team that has participated the most in the competition without ever lifting the cup! Like what, the quantity does not necessarily make the quality.

We do not know if this will be enough to reassure the fans, but the team has however often managed honorable courses out of the pools. But we had to do even better!

  • quarter-final at Spring 2022
  • final at Summer 2021
  • quarter-final at Spring 2020
  • semi-final at Summer 2019
  • semi-final at Spring 2019

Medal standings: Spain well behind

League of Legends

France is obviously first in the medal standings with a total of 10 places of honor: 5 gold medals, 1 silver and 4 bronze. Spain, which claims to be so strong, is left behind… The LVP is content with 3rd place (1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals). Interspersed with our self-proclaimed rivals is Germany with 8 places of honor (1 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze).

lfl-lol

The European Masters continue and after a brilliant first day, the LFL teams have confirmed their great form. League of Legends seems very easy to play when you look at Vitality.Bee and GameWard… But let’s not forget that the road is still long to the title!
