LoL: Riot sues a developer, who allegedly copied LoL and TFT

US giant Riot Games recently filed a complaint for plagiarism, as reported by Reuters. The company believes that the Vietnamese studio Imba Technology has simply plagiarized League of Legends, for its characters, and Teamfight Tactics, for the name. Indeed, this studio released on mobile devices a game called I Am Hero: AFK Tactical Teamfight, which, in addition to having a very similar name, has many similarities.

Naturally, all this did not sit well with Riot, who very quickly decided to act by filing a lawsuit with the Court of the Central District of California. In particular, it is written that “ low-budget mobile game developers have sought to capitalize on this popularity and goodwill by featuring counterfeit versions of LoL champions in their own games of which I Am Hero: AFK Tactical Teamfight is a part.

In addition to the name, Riot claims that several characters have “ been deliberately designed to be substantially and confusingly similar to LoL champions “. The history of these champions would also have been copied, as the studio puts it. The gameplay and many other aspects of the game are also singled out. Obviously, Riot Games seeks damages for copyright infringement and wants the games in question no longer distributed.

This story comes a few days after PUBG launched a similar action against Garena Free Fire, deemed too close to the battle royale.
