LoL: Team Heretics not yet in LEC but already a drama?

Success often has a double face. Many have discovered Team Heretics yesterday, when the rumor of the takeover of the slot LEC from Misfits Gaming broke. Since then, it’s been effervescence and we are impatiently awaiting the officialization, which hour by hour seems more and more likely. It is also rumored that a big announcement is planned for the end of the day from one of the founders (TheGrefg). The Spanish fans are stamping their feet with joy, while on the side of the French fans, we tend to tear our hair out… The Karmine Corp would have passed its turn, unable to follow the bids which would easily exceed the 30 million euros.

But a photographer decided to take advantage of this buzz to bring the Spanish structures to light. His complaints will not be able to completely spoil the announced party, but we have still known better as a first step in the court of the very great.

Team Heretics, bad payers?

The complaint came from the freelance photographer Maciej Kolek. The latter has worked with the LEC, Fnatic or even BLAST and he regularly exhibits his photos on the networks. Professional and amateur photographers all know the same scourge: the theft of their work… and Team Herectic would have stolen photos, to use them for its networks and these announcements. It is unclear how many photos are affected, but the complainant took as an example a photo of a fortnite player which was announced last April.

The conflict might raise a smile, but it still seems pretty serious. Maciek Kolek thus argued that he was in legal conflict with Team Heretics. The structure would have refused to pay him for his photos and would prefer “to go to court”. Having no information internally and having only just discovered the dispute, it is impossible to position oneself and to disentangle the true from the false. But in any case, it’s a bit of a shame for the image of the structure and more generally the image of the middle. The esport needs more support and less conflict to continue to grow.

When you follow League of Legends, you always feel compelled to rank and compare. Players, teams, structures, fanbase… Everything is scrutinized. The botlanes are also the subject of much discussion and the best duo of the LEC has changed a lot since the beginning of the year…
