The new ones league of legends champions always take their time before appearing in competition. Whether it’s to avoid bugs, to balance the champion more cleanly, or more generally to give the pros time to adapt, Riot Games very often restricts their access for several weeks – but not Zeri. Where it took months to see Akshan appear in , the Zaunian ADC was making its debut in the LEC as well as the LCS this weekend.
And what first steps! Although Unforgiven apparently struggled to find success, Danny of Evil Geniuses instead excelled, allowing Zeri to score the first pentakill in its short history.
Five for the price of one
It is during the match between Evil Geniuses and Team SoloMid that the American botlaner has achieved, or rather repeated this small feat. Indeed, rookie as he is, Danny is not at his first Pentakill of the season, since he had won another one during the Lock Inthe tournament that precedes the start of the LCS season.
However, this Pentakill there had a different flavor, since it allowed Danny to show the full potential of the champion. In fact, we would tend to argue thatno other shooter in League of Legends could have achieved this. Why ? Because Danny managed to reposition himself three times using his E, while covering enormous distances – a feat made possible by his skill set emphasizing mind-blowing mobility.
It is precisely this characteristic that makes Zeri an incredible ADC and, we dare say, one of the best competitive options of the moment. Of course, in a meta that puts long-range shooters like Caitlyn or Jinx at the forefront, the champion might have a little trouble finding her place in the lane – but the power she is able to unleash in teamfight is surely a major argument to counterbalance this weakness.
It now remains to be seen whether this balance, admittedly a little delicate, will be enough for Riot – on our side, we suspect that Zeri is likely to receive new balancing in the weeks to come…
