Lola and her brothers: this surreal casting that Jean-Paul Rouve passed on to Ludivine Sagnier

Lola, a lawyer specializing in divorce, plays the mediator for her brothers, because an awkwardness during Benoît’s wedding pushes him to cut ties with Pierre, who for his part has difficulties in his work. To get the title role of Lola in this film, Ludivine Sagnier had to go through a very special casting with Jean-Paul Rouvé. “I arrive in front of Jean-Paul to play my scene, him in the role of Zoher, (played in the film by Ramzy Bédia, editor’s note) and me of course in Lola’s, in the presence of the film’s casting director and her assistant. Jean-Paul warns me that in the end, we are going to improvise a bit. The scene ends, he throws me a huge valve to which I answer and we go in a ping-pong without stopping“, explained the actress.

Ludivine Sagnier: “His assistant had vagal discomfort while we were playing”

“There I realize that Jean-Paul is really a goldsmith of the good word and we have a great time, until he asks to cut, turning back to his casting director. And there, we realize that she is fanning her assistant who had vagal discomfort while we were playing. It had been 3 minutes since he had fallen and he was no longer filming us! Obviously we hadn’t noticed a thing, we were so connected in the game and the exchange… It was then that I most wanted to make the film. I didn’t want to miss a guy who made me forget that I was playing…“, also added Ludivine Sagnier.
