There is still no official ban, but Lufthansa has already made it clear how and in what form a small Apple product can be taken on a trip. According to the airline, these are dangerous goods for which special rules apply.
Lufthansa: Only deactivated AirTags allowed
AirTags are ideal for tracking baggage. Despite the clear advantage, Lufthansa has now announced through a spokeswoman that the small trackers from Apple not just put in the suitcase may be.
According to the airline, AirTags are dangerous goods “due to their broadcasting function”. Just like cell phones or tablets they must be disabled in checked baggage. This is required by the rules of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Unlike Lufthansa Munich Airport has no problems with AirTags. When asked, a spokesman explained that “there are no restrictions on these devices”. There would be no ban and no special requirements would apply. However, it should be noted that airport employees always work according to the airlines’ specifications when handling luggage. Whether there is a risk or not would be determined by the competent authorities at national and international level.
