A suspicious postal letter containing a powder of a still undetermined nature, but inoffensive, arrived this Tuesday morning at the fire station of La Duchère, in Lyon 9th. The powder was in small sachets, accompanied by a letter of childish appearance evoking in particular a “magic powder”.

The head of the barracks, Lieutenant-Colonel Xavier Eginard, and his secretary, who handled this letter addressed to the barracks, were confined as a precaution, the time to verify the nature of the suspicious powder.

The analyzes did not reveal any risk of harmfulness and the device was lifted at 11:40 am The envelope was seized for analysis and an investigation was opened by the police to identify the author of this letter addressed to the Lyon-La Duchère intervention center, and its motivations.

According to initial information, the suspicious powder could be sand, as in the letters of the same kind received on December 24 by two police stations in Lyon.
