Macquarie: EU authorizes joint operation in Spain

(CercleFinance.com) – The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of joint control of certain assets of MásMóvil (a Spanish company), by Aberdeen Group (Aberdeen) of the Netherlands , Macquarie Group (Macquarie) and Arjun Infrastructure Partners Limited (AIP), both of the United Kingdom.

MásMóvil’s assets consist of a fibre-to-the-home network that will be operated by Uclés Infraco, SL, and will provide wholesale broadband Internet access services in Spain.

Aberdeen is an asset manager active in transport, social infrastructure, waste and water treatment and clean energy generation networks.

Macquarie is a global investment bank and financial services provider covering resources and commodities, green and conventional energy, financial institutions, infrastructure and real estate.

AIP is an asset management company active in transportation, renewable energy, integrated electric utilities and energy distribution.

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise any competition concerns, given the very limited horizontal overlaps and the absence of vertical relationships between the companies’ activities.
