Are you a fan of the cult Indiana Jones franchise? These two new features which will be released in the coming weeks should greatly interest you.
Indiana Jones 5 may have been a gigantic flop, which would have cost Disney and Lucasfilm a whopping $134.2 million in losses, the franchise will never lose its crown in the adventure film genre. Even if certain episodes are still so divisive today, it is a real Proust madeleine and that will not change. This success is due to the immense Harrison Ford in the lead role, to Steven Spielberg and Georges Lucas, but also, and it is worth remembering, to John Williams. The fabulous composer who recently canceled his retirement.
Collectors for the magical music of Indiana Jones
John Williams’ music generally sticks in your head once it has been heard, even after a single viewing. Everyone is capable of humming the themes of Jaws, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, ET The Extra-Terrestrial or Indiana Jones. Epic soundtracks that call for adventure, and which have largely contributed to the appreciation of all these monuments of cinema. And there is excellent news both for fans of these soundtracks, but also collectors.
In a few weeks, Universal Music plans to release vinyl editions of Indy and the Temple of Doom – which is already celebrating its 40th anniversary – as well as Indy and the Last Crusade. For the moment, no thunderous announcement, but the resellers have put the files of these original tapes online. These two editions include the main illustrations of each film, and include 22 and 19 titles respectively spread over four discs… colorful? No information on this, but based on usual practices, there is a chance that this is the case.
While waiting for details, the vinyls containing the music from Indiana Jones 2 & 3 are available for pre-order at €34.20 (each). A relatively low price for the number of discs, so don’t hesitate to secure a copy in case the price rises in the coming weeks. This will be available from May 17, 2024 if there is no delay.
