A skiing accident occurred on Monday in the “Portes du Soleil” ski area. A 47-year-old Frenchman was killed, as reported by the Valais canton police.
The accident occurred around 2 pm in the “Portes du Soleil” ski area in the municipality of Val-d’Illiez VS. For reasons that have not yet been clarified, the skier fell while descending the “Pertuis” piste and subsequently hit the mast of a ski lift.
Man dies in the hospital
After initial medical care at the scene of the accident, the man was seriously injured and taken to Sion Hospital in an Air-Glaciers helicopter. There he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
The victim is a 47-year-old French resident in France. The public prosecutor’s office has started an investigation in cooperation with the canton police.
