Man seriously injured – accident in forest work: tree pinches pensioner

In Welten in the district of Jennersdorf (Burgenland), an accident occurred during forest work on Saturday morning. A pensioner was seriously injured.

The man wanted to remove a tree, some of the roots of which had already broken off. He tried to sever the trunk completely. Unfortunately, the tree fell over, hitting the pensioner and trapping him as well. His wife, who was also present, then tried unsuccessfully to rescue her husband. Fortunately, the man was able to make an emergency call himself. The fire brigade and rescue services then quickly moved in to finally supply and rescue him. The seriously injured pensioner was then flown to the hospital in Graz with the “C16” emergency doctor helicopter.
