Mandisa Lynn Hundley, known as Mandisa on the fifth season of American Idol, has died unexpectedly.

Singer Mandisa Lynn Hundley has died at the age of 47. Mandisa, which is also her stage name, became known as a participant in the fifth season of “American Idol” and made a career with Christian music.

The news about the musician’s sudden death was broadcast by the Christian radio station K-Love. Accordingly, Hundley was found lifeless in her home in Nashville on April 18th. David Pierce, head of radio, said in a statement: “Her kindness was epic, her smile electrifying, her voice powerful, but that was no comparison to the size of her heart.”

The cause of death is unknown. In an interview on breakfast television in 2017, Mandisa spoke, according to ABC News about her battle with depression. Pierce also spoke about Hundley’s mental health struggles in his statement: “Mandisa was struggling, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our own struggles.”

Mandisa became known to the public after she made it into the top ten of the talent show “American Idol” in 2006. In 2007, the Californian released her debut album “True Beauty”. For her 2013 album “Overcomer,” she received a Grammy Award in the “Best Contemporary Christian Music Album” category.
