Margot Robbie becomes the incarnate version of the famous Barbie doll in a film. However, quite different from what you might think.

It has been known since 2019 that Margot Robbie (30, "Suicide Squad") becomes the incarnate Barbie doll in a feature film. The Oscar-nominated actress has now revealed to the "Hollywood Reporter" that the film, which she is also producing, will be different from what viewers might expect.

"Whatever you think, we'll give you something completely different"

"We like things that are a bit eccentric," the 30-year-old told the industry portal about her production company LuckyChap, which is responsible for the film project. People automatically associate a certain idea with the Barbie doll. They thought they knew instinctively what a film about the Mattel product with Margot Robbie in the lead would look like. "Our goal is to say, 'Whatever you think, we're giving you something completely different – the thing that you didn't know you wanted,'" said the Australian.

With her film about the iconic doll, Robbie wants to achieve three things at once: Do justice to Barbie's DNA, surprise the audience, and stimulate a conversation that makes people think. If she succeeds, she and her colleagues will "really fire on all cylinders".

The "Once Upon A Time … In Hollywood" actress founded her production company in 2014 together with her husband Tom Ackerley (30), her good friend Josey McNamara (35) and Sophia Kerr. The team was able to engage Greta Gerwig (37, "Lady Bird") and Noah Baumbach (51, "Marriage Story") as scriptwriters for their eagerly anticipated comedy. Gerwig also acts as a director. She and Baumbach are currently among the most successful writers in Hollywood and, like Robbie, have each been nominated for an Academy Award.

Barbie ends up in the real world

There is currently no start date for "Barbie", and little is known about the plot of the film either. In the film database "IMDb" it only says that the doll was thrown out of "Barbieland" on the grounds that it was not perfect enough. Then they experience a real adventure in the real world.
