Maria Mena: She thinks Matthias Schweighöfer is a "good kisser"

Maria Mena is back with new music. In an interview about the album, the Norwegian reveals a sweet detail about Matthias Schweighöfer.

Pop musician Maria Mena (34) stormed the charts with songs like "All This Time" (2008) and "Just Hold Me" (2005). In 2015 her last album "Growing Pains" was released, after that it became quiet about the soulful Norwegian. But now the singer is back brilliantly after a five-year break. On the album "They Never Leave Their Wives", which will be released on October 23, one emotional, very personal song follows the next. A big topic: failed relationships. "I think they are the key in everyone's life," explains Maria Mena in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

Maria Mena had to take a break in recent years: "After the release of 'Growing Pains' and the subsequent tour, my body and mind needed a break," admits the singer. Mena also had health problems. "I was sick with anorexia again and had problems in my personal life." The road to a healthy life was long. "I've spent the last five years relaxing and working on myself," she sums up. Now she feels ready for her comeback: "I missed the music."

Maria Mena's tips against lovesickness

On her new album, the 34-year-old addresses heartache among other things. The last time she had a heartbreak was in 2016: "It was a pretty shitty year," she admits. Your tip against lovesickness? "The only way out is right through. Allow all feelings, be fearful, angry and sad. Try not to suppress your feelings by drinking or throwing yourself into new love." Instead, you should just stay in the here and now. "Then it'll be over quickly," said Mena.

However, it is very difficult for her to let go. "I'm a very loyal and loyal person and I hate it when I have to let someone go." In the meantime she lost her belief in love, but now she is taking new courage. After all, she has a new man by her side, with whom she shows herself in love on her Instagram account. She was happy again. But: "I don't think it's because of the man, but because I repaired myself. He's just a bonus."

Matthias Schweighöfer is "a good kisser"

Maria Mena made her breakthrough at the tender age of 16. Her early career changed her life in every way: "I can't remember not being famous." Over the years, the singer has experienced a lot, but also learned a lot. So she realized "that nothing and nobody can heal me, I have to do it myself. I also learned that I am worthy to be loved".

The Norwegian has also enjoyed great success in Germany in the past. Does she have a special connection to the country? "I love Germany and really hope to come back as soon as possible." Mena even shares a personal story with a German actor. A few years ago Matthias Schweighöfer (39) had a role in her music video for "Nevermind Me", the two even kissed at the end. "We have no more contact," admits the 34-year-old. "But he's a nice guy and a good kisser."
