Mario Adorf: The WDR pays tribute to the actor with a special program

Mario Adorf will be 90 years old on September 8th. The WDR has set up a special program to celebrate the day.

Actor Mario Adorf ("The Last Mentsch") celebrates his 90th birthday on September 8th. The WDR came up with something special for its special day. As the broadcaster has now announced, a special program is planned. "Our audience can look forward to seeing Mario Adorf again in many of his prime roles," explains WDR director Tom Buhrow (61).

"Mario Adorf is one of the most prominent character actors in German and international film," enthuses the ARD chairman. "We are very happy to roll out a red carpet for the grand seigneur of acting for his 90th birthday on WDR television." The starting shot will be given today, September 6th, at 6:04 pm with "Stories Experienced – The Actor Mario Adorf" on WDR 5. The birthday week continues on September 8th at 9:04 pm on WDR 5 Scala, where a longer portrait of Mario Adorf is waiting for the fans.

But that was by no means all: On September 12, WDR has two feature films, a TV film and a series with the birthday boy up its sleeve. At 8:15 pm it starts with "The Last Mentsch" (2014). This is followed by "The Long Wave Behind the Kiel" (2011, 9:40 pm), a series of "Old Glow – The Series" (2014, 11:10 pm) and last but not least, "The Tin Drum – Director's Cut" (1979, 23 : 35 o'clock). All planned productions are also available in the WDR media library.
