COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – The Danish airline pilots’ union warned on Thursday that around 1,000 Danish, Norwegian and Swedish pilots from Scandinavian airline SAS could go on strike from June 24 if a wage agreement is not reached. is not concluded by then.
“We have been negotiating for months without reaching an agreement,” Danish union official Henrik Thyregod said in a statement.
“We have made great efforts to help SAS, and we offer the company the opportunity to make huge savings. But under no circumstances can we accept (wage) cuts of more than 30%, as requested. SAS,” he adds.
A labor dispute would come at the worst time for the airline, which is losing money and seeking to restructure to avoid bankruptcy by cutting costs, raising funds and converting debt into equity.
SAS did not immediately respond to requests from Reuters.
