Martin Blachier boycotted in the media: “Experts have asked that I no longer be invited”

On the set of 24h Pujadas, this Monday, January 17, Martin Blachier revealed that he had been boycotted in certain media by colleagues who did not at all share his opinion on the management and evolution of the pandemic.

This Monday, January 27, Martin Blachier was featured on the show 24h Pujadas, broadcast on LCI. On the set of our colleagues, the 36-year-old epidemiologist doctor mentioned the fact that some of his colleagues have taken a dim view of his numerous television appearances since the start of the health crisis. “You have been harshly criticized. When I say that, I weigh my words”, launched David Pujadas, while his interlocutor acknowledged the facts, specifying that he had been “boycott certain media”.

“There are pundits who asked certain media that I should not be invited again, so I was not invited again, for at least a month, a month and a half, in media where I went almost daily, explained Martin Blachier, specifying that “it was hard” for him. “There are also incriminating articles which were ordered in certain media, which were nevertheless on a fairly conservative line”, chained the health columnist, who says he suffered “quite a lot of pressure”. Asked about the reason for these criticisms, the LCI guest estimated that his “character can, sometimes, annoy”. On his way, Martin Blachier said: “Afterwards, I think that there are people who were convinced. That is to say that you have, in France, a kind of guarantee of everything that is public, where we consider that what they say is necessarily true and totally pure, devoid of any interest, which is not true at all.”

A doctor who has “no personal interest” in chaining interviews?

Then talking about “people who work in public institutions”, he recalled that these “have their own agenda too” and “touch large budgets to make, for example, models”. “They have a lot of things that are allowed to them, because they are working on the Covid. And, on the other side, there is the private sector, which necessarily has ulterior motives, which wants to put itself forward”, he continued, before defending his teams: “Very honestly, it was strictly the opposite. That is to say that we did all that in addition to the work we do every day, without any personal interest. We do not work on the Covid in everyday life.” The doctor then deplored the fact that we put “labels” to the people, in France, and thanked David Pujadas for being “one of the only” media personalities who have “looked at the substance of what was said”.
