In the feature film Iron Man, the cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeff Bridges plays bad-guy Obadiah Stane. During an interview recently granted to Vanity Fairthe American actor looks back on this experience in glowing terms, but also says that the first day of filming was very complicated to the point of making it “completely crazy” !

“Iron Man was Marvel’s first venture into film production”Bridges first states in comments reported by Variety. “I was so lucky to have Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. by my side, because they are such good improvisers. We spent several weeks working on the script, rehearsing together, because we didn’t like the original version, we were changing things.”

“And then the first day of filming came around and Marvel threw the script that we had been working on in the trash saying ‘no, it’s not good, it has to be like this, like that…’ “continues the actor. “There was a lot of confusion around what the script should be, what we should tell. We spent hours in our trailers going over the dialogue, trying to figure out how to get out of it.”

And Jeff Bridges to conclude: “It drove me crazy until I made a little adjustment in my brain. I was like, ‘Jeff, you just need to relax. It’s a $200 million student film. You just need to relax and have fun.” And it worked, because I started playing and improvising with these two incredible artists. In my opinion, Iron Man is the best Marvel movie. Of course, I know I’m biased, but it was a wonderful experience.”
