As expected, the PlayStation Showcase ended with our favorite friendly neighbor and sidekick Miles Morales.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has finally distinguished itself with a sequence of high-flying gameplay, with a release window announced for this fall, exclusively on PS5.
Two Spiders for the price of one
Presented for the first time during the PlayStation Showcase of 2021, it seemed legitimate that the highly anticipated new title from Insomniac Games should be the highlight of this 2023 edition. The talented studio obviously did not do things by halves, in witness these 10 minutes of spectacular gameplay.
As we already knew, this second opus will allow us to embody not only Peter Parker, but also Miles Morales, who was entitled to his solo adventure after the excellent first episode released in 2018.
During the sequence above, however, we find that this dear Spidey is no longer quite himself, since he is contaminated by the symbiote which will subsequently graft itself to Eddie Brock, marking the birth of Venom, villain. confirmed for this sequel.
New super villains and powers
In addition to this duality, we are also treated to a glimpse of some new abilities of the two Spiders in costume. Manipulated by his symbiotic suit, Peter Parker presents a much more aggressive attitude here, while Miles Morales seems to have fully appropriated his powers, which are based in particular on electricity.
We can also meet two new big villains of the universe there. Spiderman in the person of Kraven the Hunter, who has found new prey in the Lizard, or Doctor Connors in his human form. Our two heroes seem ready to take all the risks to save the good doctor’s moulting skin.
The result, after phases of swaying in New York and well-known infiltration of the first two games, is a high-flying sequence above the waters of the Big Apple. It is clear that the PS5 displays the game in its finest finery, in complete fluidity.
As for a release date, however, it will still be necessary to show a little patience. PlayStation has so far only woven a fall release window, presumably in September.
