MasterChef Celebrity: Jochen Schropp is the winner

The decision was close, but in the end Jochen Schropp won the final of "MasterChef Celebrity" over Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht.

Moderator Jochen Schropp (41) won "MasterChef Celebrity". In the finale of the Sky cooking show, where celebrities are at the stove, he prevailed against his fellow actor Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht (28). The two had to convince the jury, consisting of Meta Hiltebrand (37), Nelson Müller (41) and Ralf Zacherl (49), with a five-course menu.

And Schropp succeeded best with his dishes. As an amuse bouche, the winner served grain crackers with a cashew and kale dip, a Thai shrimp and coconut soup as an appetizer and in between, he served the jury with a fennel and lemon risotto. The main course consisted of peri-peri chicken, grilled cauliflower and broccoli on aubergine puree and for dessert Schropp served grilled figs and plums with honey-lime yogurt and shortbread.

Dessert was crucial

"I feel as if I ran a marathon and haven't slept for 48 hours, but at the same time I'm incredibly overwhelmed that I won," said Jochen Schropp afterwards. "Jimi was a great and strong opponent. That is why he would have deserved to win here. For this reason I not only want to support my heart project, but also donate part of my profit to Jimi's project."

15,000 euros go to SOS Children's Villages and 10,000 euros to Ochsenknecht's heart project, the Steve Irwin Foundation. He was happy about this "grand gesture". He also said after the final: "I gave everything and was very satisfied with my menu. But only one person can win here and I'm really happy for my friend Jochen."

The outcome of the final was apparently close. "It was a really difficult decision for us, because Jochen and Jimi are opponents at eye level," said Nelson Müller. "The only thing that really mattered for us was the last course, the dessert." And Ralf Zacherl added: "Jimi and Jochen can really be extremely proud of themselves. That was a long and nerve-wracking journey here at 'MasterChef', they have improved from episode to episode and have not only shown top performances today." All episodes of "MasterChef Celebrity" are still available on demand via Sky Ticket and Sky Q.
