Matera, promoter of self-management of condominiums, raises 35 million euros

And three! The start-up Matera, ex-Illicopro, is raising funds for the third time in its history, which began in January 2017. The young company announces, this Tuesday, May 25, the entry into the capital of new investors, including the Public Bank of investment (BPI), for an amount of 35 million euros, “The biggest fundraiser of PropTech [pour « property technologies », les services immobiliers innovants par Internet], congratulates Raphaël di Meglio, its founder and CEO. In addition to BPI, Matera hosts Mubadala Capital, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign fund, and the German Burda Principal Investment. Also followed by its historic shareholders, the Anglo-Saxon Index Ventures and the Spanish Samaipata.

For more than four years, Matera has been developing a digital platform for legal, technical and accounting advice for condominiums managed voluntarily by their co-owners and which, for this, adopt cooperative status. With 3,000 member condominiums, totaling 60,000 co-owners who each month pay a contribution of 9 to 11 euros, Matera is developing an original model of self-management assistance.

“We are convinced by this model where the co-owners who live in the building and pay the charges are the only ones interested in efficient management., explains Mr. Di Meglio. This allows them to save on management, on average 30% of their budget, which can be reinvested in work that buildings often need. Our growth is such, with 140 employees today, that we cannot meet all the demands: 3,000 condominiums are on hold. We also want to develop with social landlords and in Germany, to become the European champion of efficient management of condominiums ”.

In France, the company Matera is shaking up the profession of condominium trustee to such an extent that Fnaim had, at the end of 2020, lodged a complaint against it for illegal exercise of the profession. A complaint closed without follow-up after the investigation carried out by the General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control.
