5 party experiences that will prepare you for life with a baby

Exhausted after a child’s birthday party or after a night of partying? Visually it is impossible to see clearly.

Some party guests have more small children in common than you think – and can prepare you perfectly for parental leave in some respects.

Okay, we could now totally optimistically claim that having children is one big party anyway and that every day in the family is like a lavish celebration, but let’s not fool ourselves: we all know that that’s not true. Of course, our children enrich our lives every day and provide unexpected moments of happiness. But it all usually goes hand in hand with a lot of work, total exhaustion and endless discussions about candy, video games and the correct use of toilet paper. Still, parents can learn more from their past partying than meets the eye.

Wild and chaotic: this is how your past partying prepares you for life as a parent

In fact, a wild, sprawling celebration has a surprising number of parallels with everyday life with babies and toddlers. Because if we’re being honest, our offspring often have more in common with a drunken partygoer than with the cute angel we usually think of them as. Drinks from the bottle? Check. Suddenly starts babbling wildly and telling nonsensical things while we give him enthusiastic nods? Check. Do you sometimes start screaming, singing or crying uncontrollably? Check. Vomits shortly after the bottle is finished? Check, check, check. No question: many a moody evening in our past was really the perfect training for our future with unpredictable bundles of energy that always have a new surprise ready for us.

Keep cool and party on

Of course, this is just one example of many overlaps that party and children’s everyday life bring with them – you can see many more in the video above. And anyway: If we take a deep breath and just let the daily family chaos roar around us for a few seconds, we might find out: The parties with children are not over, they just continue to be celebrated at home. And despite the exhaustion and conflicts, that’s just damn nice!
