Meditation room: 8 tips for setting up

Placing a Buddha figure on the windowsill doesn't make a meditation room! We'll show you which tips and tricks can turn your room into a relaxation room.

Regular meditation helps us reduce stress and relax. The basic requirement for this, however, is a quiet place to meditate – and that makes it a restricted zone for troublemakers such as smartphones, TVs and the like! Here we reveal what else you should look out for in a meditation room or a meditation corner in your home.

Setting up a meditation room – 8 tips

Of course, there is no need to have a separate room in the house exclusively for meditation, and that is also possible when there is a quiet spot. If you have the space or can relax better in a demarcated room or corner, you should set up and maintain this space accordingly – just as you already do for your mind.

Always observe basic rule number one: Only come into your meditation room what you feel comfortable with! Below are some great suggestions for you.

1. Light

Bright light from the ceiling usually does not create an atmospheric ambience in which you can relax. Help, for example Fairy lights with warm white light, Candles or small Lamps with warm light, such as Salt crystal lamps.

2. Seating

The meditation seat is difficult for many at the beginning. Have a supportive effect Meditation cushion or benches. Some people prefer absolute silence when meditating, others find it easier to relax with soft background music. Another option is one Indoor fountain – if the splashing of water relaxes you, it definitely belongs in your meditation room! A gong or singing bowls are ideal for ringing in and out the meditation.

4. Fragrances for the senses

Fragrances affect us – no question about it. For meditation you can up Incense sticks put a potpourri or essential oils. If the scent of certain flowers makes you relax, a bouquet of them should not be missing.

5. Wall design

Does a certain picture or motif give you peace of mind? Then put it on the wall! The eye meditates with – even if one often meditates with closed (or half-closed) eyes, the wall design contributes to the feeling of well-being. Choose a color that you feel comfortable with and you can come down, muted natural tones could be a good choice here. A color demarcation is particularly useful when it is a meditation corner in another room.

Decoration is allowed without a doubt and adds one to your room or your corner personal feel-good note added. Regardless of whether:

If you intend to practice yoga in your meditation room, get one non-slip yoga mat (gladly produced sustainably) and at will for your practice blocks, bolsters and yoga straps. So you are perfectly equipped!
