Admittedly, the realization of this scam came much too late for a German living in Tyrol: only after he had flown to the States for an alleged internet acquaintance did he realize that the “American” probably didn’t even exist. By then, however, he had already lost a whopping sum.
The scammers contacted the man living in the Kufstein area via social media and pretended to be an American. They put false facts before him and persuaded the German to transfer money several times. Eventually, the “American” even persuaded the man to take a flight to the USA to meet her there. Having lost several thousand euros in the States, the Tyrolean by choice had to realize that he had been scammed: the agreed meeting never took place instead of. The victim suffered damage of several thousand euros as a result of the fraud.
