Whatever Duchess Meghan does, criticism usually follows. Her friend Melissa McCarthy is now protecting her.
The US actress Melissa McCarthy (53) takes her friend Duchess Meghan (42) in protection. After she presented the first product of her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard – a strawberry jam – last week, there was a hail of criticism and malice online.
Opposite the gossip portal “Page Six” McCarthy said on the sidelines of a Broadway premiere that the criticism against Meghan stems from the fact that people feel “threatened” by her. The actress added that the Duchess was “wonderful” and “great.”
Duchess Meghan is “inspiring”
“It angers me for every woman and every person that people want to attack for no reason,” McCarthy said. “A smart and interesting woman who has her own life is, for some reason, incredibly threatening to some people.”
The 53-year-old continued: “I always think: how inspiring! I’ve never felt threatened by someone who is incredible. I just think how inspiring. It’s really up to the people who spread the hate.”
Melissa McCarthy and Duchess Meghan have been friends for several years. The “Gilmore Girls” star appeared, among other things, in a video in 2021 that Meghan published on the occasion of her 40th birthday. Even then, McCarthy said to “Access Hollywood”, Meghan was “very inspiring.” She and her husband, Prince Harry (39), are “sweet and funny”.
