Melk district – Three fire departments are now moving under one roof

In the future, the Schollach, Anzendorf and Roggendorf fire departments, which together have 120 members, will work together. In order to ensure long-term operational readiness and enable synergy effects in terms of operating costs, vehicles and equipment, the three weirs in the 1,000-strong town of Schollach in the Melk district will merge in the future.

Although the name hasn’t been decided yet, the first major shared goal has: building a new fire station. Construction on the three million euro project is scheduled to begin this year. “Our comrades want to get involved diligently,” said the three commanders. State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner is also enthusiastic about the idea of the merger. She convinced herself of the plans and assured the state of financial support: “When we work together we are stronger and even more powerful, and this is certainly a future-oriented solution for the fire brigade members and the population.” Investments in the millions are being invested properly also in Wiener Neustadt. Almost five million euros are being invested in the expansion of the fire department headquarters on Babenbergerring. The vehicle hall will be expanded, the existing rooms will be adapted and the building technology will be modernized. “After more than 40 years, the requirements have changed,” says Commander Christian Pfeiffer. Because the construction site means there are no parking spaces in the inner courtyard, the Florianis have to use public parking spaces: “We ask for your understanding.”
