A group of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday recommended the use of molnupiravir, the antiviral treatment for COVID-19 developed by the American laboratory, for people at high risk. WHO’s international expert panel, which reviewed data from six randomized clinical trials involving more than 4,000 patients, concluded with moderate certainty that Merck’s molnupiravir reduces the risk of hospitalization and recovery time. Molnupiravir should not be used in young, healthy patients, and pregnant and breastfeeding women, the experts said.
